G|PRO, LEED, AND WELL

Want to move your career forward? Sustainable green building training can get you there.

G|PRO: Green Professional Building Skills Training is a comprehensive national training and certificate program that teaches the principles of sustainability and trade-specific green construction knowledge to people who build, renovate and maintain buildings. G|PRO is owned and managed by Urban Green Council and brought to you USGBC MA through expert local certified instructors.

G|PRO certificate holders will be prepared to work in accordance with new regulations and to meet the expectations of owners and tenants who want healthier, environmentally sustainable, and energy-efficient homes and offices.

Do you employ trades professionals?

Whether you employ plumbers, electricians, construction managers, or building operators, these courses will help them master modern techniques and practices not learned from conventional projects. G|PRO is meant for experienced professionals who need to incorporate more green practices into their daily work.

Building technology has advanced greatly in the past 10 years and will continue to do so. G|PRO ensures that your trades staff are meeting the needs that these complex buildings demand to meet the efficiency and operational goals.

Usually, maintenance consists of just continuing the practices that have been done over time. A building’s energy control systems can be the best, but they lose all effectiveness if they are not used or maintained properly. Institutional practices tend to standardize practice and “legacy” procedures are not questioned. However, technology changes and systems change, and so should the staff knowledge to support these building systems.

Why should you invest in G|PRO training?

Comprehensive Certificate Program: Instructors focus on the significant, applicable, and emerging trends for the specific trade. Course attendees will appreciate the specific approaches meant for their industries.

Long-Term Benefits: Better building construction and operations result in energy savings and improved building performance that translates into long-term benefits for owners and occupants.

We offer local courses with a minimum class size of 25 students. If you have a group that may be interested in a course please contact Celis Brisbin, at 617-752-2422.

A LEED Professional Credential helps you stand out by increasing your opportunity for employment, job stability and promotion, while underscoring your value to LEED project teams and sustainability-focused organizations.

Since 2009 the USGBC has recognized three tiers of LEED accreditation:

  • The LEED Green Associate denotes a basic knowledge of LEED and green buildings.

  • The LEED Accredited Professional with Specialty denotes advanced knowledge of one specific LEED rating system.

  • The LEED Fellow recognizes an individual with 10 or more years of experience and 8 years of LEED accreditation.

The WELL AP , developed in collaboration with the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), signifies advanced knowledge in human health and wellness in the built environment, and specialization in the WELL Building Standard.

To become a WELL AP, all candidates must pass the WELL AP exam. The exam was developed using GBCI’s rigorous test development best practices, and is based on the expertise of leading building industry practitioners, academic researchers and physicians in the field of design, health and wellness in the built environment. It’s designed to test a candidate’s understanding of the principles, practices and applications of the WELL Building Standard.
